Consistent attendance is vital to student success. The following attendance policy applies:
Students must not miss more than five (5) consecutive days of course studies. If a student is unable to attend classroom or practical instruction for more than five (5) consecutive days, they will forfeit enrollment in the Minnesota School of Construction, and no refund will be provided.
If a student misses five (5) or more days of instruction (classroom or practical), they will forfeit enrollment, and no refund will be provided. Absenteeism may affect the student’s grade due to missed instruction. Course material and tests missed due to absence may be made up at the discretion of the instructor.
Students who register for a class and stop attending or fail to attend without officially dropping or withdrawing will be held responsible for payment and receive a grade for the class. A grade of FW (Fail, Withdrawn) and the last date of attendance will be recorded for courses a student fails to attend without officially dropping.
If students anticipate a leave of absence from classwork or practical work, they must inform their instructor at least two business days before their leave of absence. All requested leave of absence must be approved by both the instructors and the MSC President. Leave of absence requests will be reviewed and approved on a case-by-case basis and must have an acceptable reason. Some examples of acceptable leave of absence reasons include:
Excessive tardiness may result in an unsatisfactory grade or a non-passing grade for a course. Tardiness can lead to missing coursework and quizzes. Students are expected to attend all courses in their entirety and adhere to scheduled times.
All Minnesota School of Construction courses will follow the following grading system:
A grade of FW (Fail, Withdrawn) and the last date of attendance will be recorded for courses a student fails to attend without officially dropping.
To pass a course, students must achieve a grade of C (7079%) or higher in each course. There are no probationary periods at MSC. Reenrollments are allowed, but students must wait until the current enrollment period has reached the point where the student left off. All prior courses must have been completed with a passing grade of C. Application fees and all other initial enrollment costs will apply.
